Chronic Disease Prevention & Management
Create small habits and they will become big changes!
It is estimated that nearly half of all Americans live with at least one chronic disease which is defined as a condition lasting 3 months or longer. Cardiovascular disease and diabetes are one of the top 5 chronic diseases and benefit greatly from nutrition and lifestyle interventions.
We will work together towards goals such as lowering cholesterol levels or improving blood glucose numbers by meeting you where you are and setting realistic and attainable goals. No crash diets here!
The focus will always be on developing an overall healthy and balanced nutrition pattern that is sustainable over time. I always ask: What is your long-term health goal? Is it to play with your grandchildren at the park? Travel the world in retirement? Mine is to hike up a mountain at a ripe old age!
Family & Pediatric Nutrition
I am dedicated to helping clients adopt healthier lifestyles and work closely with families to develop customized food plans specific to their needs. I believe in teaching people about whole foods, meal planning and cooking with a focus on getting the entire family involved.
Meal times are not meant to be stressful. Busy lifestyles mean it is often the only time of day where the family comes together to connect.
Do you have a picky eater and are concerned that they are not meeting their nutritional needs? Being the mother of two picky eaters myself (and one of them a vegetarian to boot), I have an arsenal of tips and strategies.
Digestive Health
Have you been experiencing gut issues for years?
Did you know that 60 to 70 million people are affected by digestive diseases, including chronic constipation, gallstones, reflux, and irritable bowel disease, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Proton pump inhibitors are among the most commonly dispensed drug classes in the United States!
Our digestive tract is a sophisticated system that not only breaks down the food we eat. The nutrients we absorb serve many functions, including energy production, hormone balance, toxin elimination, and mental health. About 70% of the immune system is located in the gut! The gut also houses the enteric nervous system, or “second brain”, made up of 500 million neurons that communicate with the brain via the vagus nerve (gut brain connection), and plays a key role in conditions, such as Crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as mental health.
I am dedicated to getting to the root cause of your digestive symptoms and promoting optimal gut health through nutrition interventions.
